The RPG Conference is coming in 2020!

EARLY INTEREST CONTACT FORM - Use this form to indicate your early interest in either attending as a presenter/panelist, or audience member. We are trying to gauge what size venues we should book.

Conference is focused on the latest research on all RPG Formats: tabletop, electronic, live-action, and hybrids.

Board voted April 20th, 2019, and agreed to begin planning process for an annual RPG Research Conference beginning in late 2020.

Will likely be at local university campus in Spokane, Cheney, or somewhere in the region.

Tentatively somewhere around August to October, 2020.

Much planning to do.

If you would be interested in presenting papers, being on panels, running relevant activities, or speaking, please use the contact form on the page to indicate your potential interest.

Event is tentatively planned to take place across Friday, Saturday, Sunday schedule to make it worth the travel from those in other countries that have indicated interest.

Have already heard from a dozen potential speakers, but would like as comprehensive a list as possible.

Will be a while before have the forms up for submitting papers, panels, presentations, but this early heads up to help start spreading awareness.

The RPG Conference is focused on the latest research from around the world on all role-playing game formats:

  • Tabletop
  • Live-action
  • Electronic
  • Hybrids

This is NOT a marketing or fandom conference. This is for professionals, primarily for:

  • Researchers
  • Academics
  • Therapists
  • Educators
  • Professionals from various fields

Tentative schedule (very early rough draft, may radically change):

Somewhere between August to October, on a Friday through Sunday weekend.

Friday:

  • 3:00 pm - Open doors for at-the-door tickers and registration.
  • 6:00 pm - Opening Ceremonies
  • 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm - Sessions

Saturday:

  • 7 or 8 am doors open.
  • 1 hour later begin sessions
  • 1 hour lunch break.
  • Afternoon sessions
  • 1 hour dinner break
  • Evening sessions, wrap up around 10 pm.

Sunday:

  • 8 or 9 am doors open.
  • 1 hour later begin sessions.
  • 30 minute lunch break.
  • Afternoon sessions.
  • Closing ceremonies and end event around 2 to 4 pm, to allow people to catch their flights back.

Some offerings may include role-playing game sessions in different formats, "eating our own dog food" so to speak, that illustrate some specific research related point.

Breaks between sessions to allow audience to socialize and speak directly with panelists/presenters before next session.

Tentatively scheduled between August to October in 2020.
